We're a Frankfurt-based film and photo production company offering three core services: full-service productions (commercials, fashion campaigns, brand films, music videos), service production for international companies shooting in Germany or Europe, and production consulting for projects at any stage of development. We also offer certified green production consulting as a standalone service.
Home base is Frankfurt, Germany — but we work wherever the project takes us. We've produced in Germany, across Europe, and internationally. For service productions, we're particularly strong as a local partner for companies coming into the German market.
The two founders and creative leads at gorillahippo. Both started as set runners and have worked in virtually every role in the production spectrum over the past 30+ years combined. They're hands-on on every project — you won't be handed off to a junior team.
We work with a core team and a trusted network of freelance specialists — DoPs, art directors, stylists, casting directors, location scouts, and more — assembled specifically for each project. This keeps us lean, flexible, and able to scale from a one-day shoot to a multi-week international production.

It means we handle everything — creative development, location scouting, permits, casting, crew assembly, equipment, logistics, on-set management, and post-production coordination. You bring the brief; we take it from there.
Service production is for international companies — brands, agencies, or production companies — who need a reliable local partner in Germany or Europe. We handle everything on the ground: permits, crew, locations, logistics, and on-set support, while you retain creative control. Think of us as your local fixers with full production capability.
Yes. We've produced everything from single-day editorial shoots to multi-week international campaigns. The process is the same — we scale the team and resources to fit the project, not the other way around.
Both. We work directly with brands, with agencies as production partners, and with national and international production companies as a service provider. Whatever the structure, we adapt.

It's tailored to what you actually need, not a generic package.
Not at all. Early-stage conversations are often the most useful ones. We can help you assess whether your concept is producible within your budget and timeline, and identify the key decisions you need to make before moving forward.
We consult on any production — regardless of whether gorillahippo is executing it. If you need experienced eyes on a project you're already developing, we're happy to take a look.

It means we've been formally trained and certified in sustainable production practices — covering everything from energy use and materials to transport, waste management, and local sourcing. We can apply these practices to our own productions and consult other companies on how to do the same.
Yes. Green production consulting is available as a standalone service. We assess your existing workflow, identify the highest-impact changes, and give you a practical, actionable roadmap — whether you're aiming for full certification or just want to make smarter choices on set.
In practice: energy-efficient lighting and equipment as standard, eco-friendly materials for sets and props, local crew and supplier sourcing wherever possible, hybrid or electric transport, minimal air travel, and strict on-set recycling and waste policies. None of it is performative — it's built into how we plan and execute from day one.

As early as possible, especially for larger productions. That said, we're experienced in working under tight timelines — if you have an urgent project, reach out and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable.
We coordinate post-production and connect you with the right specialists — editors, colorists, VFX artists, sound designers — depending on your project's needs. For most productions we have established partners we trust and work with regularly.
German and English. For international productions and clients, English is our default working language on set and in communication.
